Algae Slick 7 miles offshore, New Pass
Heading out for another dive with Mote Marine last Tuesday for benthic mortality data collection - gathering data to determine the coral populations since the last bad red tide bloom. When we got about seven miles offshore the Gulf was covered with an algae slick that looked like tree pollen. Usually a precursor to an outbreak. Hopefully not. Water samples were sent off. Should have some information on exactly what it was within a week. - Abe
